Hello! Thanks for visiting our website. We’re performing our monthly shows in The Dunedin Gasworks Museum. We use the mian Engine Room space in Summe (see vid below) and the warmer Fitting room space for rest of the year. Both spaces have concrete floors.
Where is it?
Gasworks is in middle of the block of industrial buildings between South Dunedin Warehouse and the K Mart, behind the big Woolworths, on Braemar Road.
The road is right opposite the Warehouse carpark exit. The other end of Braemar road is opposite the Kmart carpark.
This is the outside of the Gasworks. There’s loads of parking on the road.
Go in the big gate and through the big metal structure, usually we will be in the left hand building – known as ‘The Fitting Shop‘ or the ‘Engine Room’ building pictured below (this is where the toilets are too).
If you can, please park on road and walk in, so we have less traffic on site. If you need to be closer drive in and park on the site, but watch out for other people arriving on foot 🙂
The site has no stairs, and there is an accessible toilet. We think it’s accessible for any wheelchair that fits through a standard doorframe. We use plastic movable chairs, you’re welcome to bring your own coushin or even your own comfy chair (if you can fit it through a doorframe!)
You’re very welcome to bring your own snacks, soft drinks and hot dinner from home or the local takeaways (not alcohol sorry.)
You can get up and move around during the show, it’s a pretty relaxed vibe. You can go outside for air and come back in whenever you want.
Sometimes the performers talk to the audience (and they talk to us) but we don’t require ‘audience participation’ you can just chill and watch the show.
We usually have a craft table as well if you want to draw or sculpt while you listen.
We record the show and put online as an audio podcast and have our lore and synopsis on our website, but we try to make each show fun by itself too.
We start at 6pm. We’re fully improvising the show, it’s not scripted at all, so we aren’t sure how long it will be. On a Sunday night the last buses from the area are about 9pm. You can set an alarm to tell you it’s time to go, we don’t mind if it rings during the show and you need to leave. We’re still figuring out how to make the show a good length for everyone while still playing a real game 🙂
