Hello! Thanks for visiting our website. We’re performing in The Dunedin Gasworks Museum. There are two spaces in the venue that we might use, depending on how cold it is. Gasworks is an industrial site, and both spaces have concrete floors. We have heating on, free hot drinks and some blankets, but please dress warmly too.
Where is it?
Gasworks is in middle of a block of industrial buildings. The block we’re in is between South Dunedin Warehouse, and the K Mart. Gasworks is behind the big Woolworths, on Braemar Road.
This is the road to go down, it’s right opposite the Warehouse carpark exit. The other end of Braemar road is opposite the Kmart carpark.
This is the outside of the Gasworks. There is loads of parking on the road.
Go in the big gate and through the big metal structure, we will be in the left hand building – known as ‘The Fitting Shop‘ or the ‘Engine Room’ building pictured below.
If you can, please park on road and walk in, so we have less traffic on site. If you need to be closer, you can drive in and park on the site, but please watch out for other people arriving.
The site has no stairs, and there is an accessible toilet. We think it’s accessible for a smallish wheelchair that can fit through a standard doorframe. Our seats are just hard plastic movable chairs, so you can bring your own comfy chair if you can fit it through a doorframe. It’s a good idea to bring your own seat cushion.
You’re very welcome to bring your own snacks, soft drinks and hot dinner from home or the local takeaways (not alcohol sorry.)
You can get up and move around during the show, it’s a pretty relaxed vibe.
Sometimes the performers talk to the audience and they talk to us, but we won’t force any ‘audience participation’ you can just chill and watch the show.
We record the show and put it up online as an audio podcast. So you can catch up on what’s happened, but each show is fun by itself as well.
We start at 6pm. We’re fully improvising the show, it’s not scripted at all, so we aren’t sure how long it will be. On a Sunday night the last buses from the area are about 9pm. You can set an alarm to tell you it’s time to go, we don’t mind if it rings during the show and you need to leave. We’re still figuring out how to make the show a good length for everyone while still playing a real game 🙂
